Information We Collect
Xpense is a manual expense tracking app. We only collect the minimum information necessary to provide you with the best experience.
- Expense and income data you manually enter into the app (amounts, categories, dates, notes)
- App usage data such as session duration and feature interactions (anonymous and aggregated)
- Device information such as operating system version and device type, used only for crash reporting
- If you contact us for support, your email address and the content of your message
We do not collect your bank account details, passwords, or any sensitive financial credentials. All expense data you enter is stored locally on your device.
How We Use Your Information
The information we collect is used solely to operate and improve Xpense. Specifically:
- To display your expenses, budgets, and financial summaries within the app
- To send optional bill reminders and budget notifications you configure
- To fix bugs and improve app performance using anonymous crash reports
- To respond to your support requests and feedback
- To understand how features are used so we can improve the app experience
We never use your financial data for marketing, profiling, or selling to third parties.
Data Storage & Security
Your expense data is stored locally on your device by default. We take the following measures to protect your information:
- All data stored on your device is protected by your device's built-in security features
- Optional cloud backup uses industry-standard AES-256 encryption
- We use secure HTTPS connections for all data transfers
- We regularly review our security practices to protect against unauthorized access
If you delete the app, all locally stored data is permanently removed from your device. If you used cloud backup, you may request deletion of your cloud data by contacting us.
Third Party Services
Xpense uses a limited number of trusted third-party services to operate. Each has their own privacy policy:
- Google Play Services — App distribution and updates
- Firebase Crashlytics — Anonymous crash reporting to help us fix bugs
- Google AdMob — To serve advertisements in the free version of the app
We carefully select our third-party partners and only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function. We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to any third party.
Advertisements
The free version of Xpense displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. These ads help us keep the app free for everyone.
- AdMob may use your device's advertising ID to show relevant ads
- You can opt out of personalized ads in your device's settings under Google > Ads
- Upgrading to Xpense Premium removes all advertisements entirely
- Ad data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy
Your financial data entered in Xpense is never shared with advertisers under any circumstances.
Children's Privacy
Xpense is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at the email below. We will take steps to remove such information from our systems promptly.
Your Rights
You have full control over your data. At any time, you may:
- Access all data stored in Xpense directly within the app
- Export your expense data as a CSV or PDF file from the app settings
- Delete all your data by clearing app data or uninstalling the app
- Request deletion of any cloud backup data by contacting us
- Opt out of anonymous analytics by disabling it in app settings
If you reside in the European Union, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you through a notification within the app or by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of Xpense after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
